Leadership Programming Central Michigan University
Leadership Safari is a leadership development program held at Central Michigan University (CMU). It is designed to help new students transition into college life by providing them with the skills, knowledge, and connections needed to succeed both academically and personally. The targeted group is incoming freshman and transfer students. Roughly over 1,000 students participate.Leadership Safari has been so successful resulting in a higher retention (84%) compared to those who do not participate. This 10% difference highlights the positive impact the program has on student retention and engagement at CMU.
First Scholars Network
Central Michigan University
Partnering with the National Association of Student Affairs Personell Administrators and the Suder Foundation, Central Michigan University was inducted into the First Scholars Network. This initiative will equip colleges and universities with training and best practices to improve degree completion for first -generation college students. Currently, 20% of undergraduate students self- identify as first-generation college students. CMU also launched First- Cen Central, which is comprised of of faculty, staff and students who volunteer to serve on an advisory board. Their task is to provide programs, services and support the unique needs of first-gen college students. The university also offers a scholarship. The Ignite Scholarship through Advancement is for first-gen students who demonstrate a financial need. The combined inititives demonstrates the institutions desire and committment to see first- gen students reach their personal and professional goals.

Student Food Pantry and Food Insecurity Resources
Central Michigan Unversity
Student Food Pantry is aimed at addressing food insecurity among its students. The food pantry is open through the year and roughly feeds $10k yearly. Students may pickup meat, bread, non-perishable foods and hygiene products. Through the help of Advancement CMU $180k was raised to operate this space. The pantry is a vital service that helps to alleviate food insecurity among students. In addition, a full-time staff professional will manage the food pantry due to the volume of users.
2018 Conference: Diversity and Inclusion in an Ever-Changing Political Environment

This conference was aimed at continuing to honor the contributions and talents of the university's diverse community, and further dismantle systems of oppression.

Previous years’ conferences brought to light systemic oppression that has been plaguing our community. This year we seek quality proposals that will continue to expound on what is impacting our community, but we also seek quality proposals that serve to will also provide tangible strategies and recommendations that can empower individuals to take a more active role in breaking down and dismantling these oppressive systems.
Project Rebound
Illinois State University
Project Rebound was designed for those students who were reinstated at Illinois State. The overall goal is to ensure each student's success upon re-entering the university.

Project Rebound put students with a community of people who understand their struggles. Students work with staff and other students to squash obstacles getting in the way of each student's goals.
